The warmth of Shabbos at camp is something I feel every day. The singing is straight from the heart- you can see it on the girls’ faces.

The beauty of Yeka is that everyone is equal and given the same amount of love. There’s no judgment or complications, just an abundance of love flowing from every direction. It is the biggest privilege to be part of the Yeka family and I wish to share it with everyone I meet.

Camp Yeka means everything to the special kids of Ukraine and these kids mean everything to Camp Yeka. The camp environment is bursting with love and dedication as well as an equal balance of fun. Working as a counselor in Yeka gave me such a feeling of wholesomeness and connection to all the campers. Yeka is one big family and I’m so happy that I get to be a part of it.

Every time I think about the fact that people are doing such great good for other, strangers, it becomes harder and harder to believe. The funds raised for camp were spent on giving us Jewish girls the innermost desire to learn the Torah and fulfill the commandments each day. It’s only thanks to Camp Yeka that I learned so many chapters of Tanya and went through the entire Aleph Champ program!!!

Привет меня зовут Надя и я была в этом лагере очень много раз. Этот лагерь приближает всех девочек к еврейству и исполнению заповедей. И это очень круто. И очень много друзей

Hi, my name is Nadia and I was in camp many times. This camp brings together Jewish girls and teaches them about Judaism and about keeping the commandments which is really cool. And I have a lot of friends here.

It was my second camp where I worked as an counselor, I waited for it so much, I literally counted the days back to get to know the girls and to know all the people I will going to work with, the day of camp came and we were on our way, sitting on the bus with half the camp kids, I was really stressed because I didn’t knew how the kids would accept me, and if they would love me, but when I started to talk with the girls and when I knew my group I calmed down really fast, we connected in a second, these girls were like little sisters to me for 3 weeks, we did everything together, it was the best summer I could ask for, the satisfaction I got from helping and giving all of me for  these girls made me to feel so good, i become a better person because off these girls, already waiting for the next camp.

Yeka is what makes you happy. And not only that. The counselors are the best and helpful and always supportive in every situation. Yeka gave me a Jewish name and knowledge about Jewish traditions, and taught me what joy, happiness and friends are.

Yeka is far more that an organization and even a camp. It is a family and a movement that truly moves mountains. It is only possible to truly and fully understand the magic, hope, and sense of PURPOSE that yeka provides for our girls once you have stepped into the Yeka island of happiness and see the pure and genuine smiles and looks of comfort and joy on our precious girls faces once they step off that bus on the first day of camp and embrace with counselors and campers alike. The saying “in yeka we speak the language of love” is exactly what yeka is all about. NOTHING will get in the way of us providing a safe haven for the girls infused with the lessons and wisdom of Judaism and torah, where they get to have fun and dance the summer away. Looking forward to reuniting with my Yeka sisters soon! No Jewish child should be left behind or forgotten about ❤️

I got the privilege of joining the Yeka family thinking I was there to give, but really I got back so much more in return. Our campers look forward to camp all year long, awaiting the smile, love, and attention they know they’ll get. It’s more than just a few weeks a year, it’s what makes our year. Yeka is more than just a camp, it’s a family.

People say that the eyes are the window to the soul and when I saw their eyes in front of me, in that moment, I understood how honored I was by being a part of Yeka.

Yeka is a family for each person that gets involved, it is that place in the world with no prejudices and where each one is applauded for being the way they are.

Being part of the yeka family is having the opportunity to meet angels within this world, it is sitting and listening to a girl who, while crying, teaches you what is really important in this life and those challenges transform us to better people.

In my experience, I arrived at Yeka with a heart ready to give and in each dance, hug and smile my heart overflowed with love.

I expected to give and I ended up receiving even more.

There’s a Blessing to Yeka Over 100 Jewish girls in Ukraine got to experience: a summer of unlimited love, connection, joy, warmth of Yiddishkeit and family. It was extremely touching to watch one of the girls who in a regular situation would be called the problem child, be looked at for who she actually was and loved for it. The time when one of the girls from a non religious background made up a song about the power of prayer. I feel chills when I think about the day that over 10 girls were gifted with their Jewish Identity, their name. On that day we sang “I’m happy to be a Jew” in the same streets that years ago one could not even imagine saying. Yeka opens up my eyes to the reality that no matter how different we are on the outside – dress, language, personality’s – we can truly connect with each other on a very deep level.
